Anyone who qualifies under the Driver Privacy Protection Act and Alaska statutes can request an Alaska Motor Vehicle Record. Fill in Request for Vehicle Record Form 851, add your signature and the date, then send it to the Alaska DMV together with payment and any documents that are required. The charge is $10 per record. Government agencies not charged.

Whoever is listed as the owner of record on the Arizona title is able to buy a Title and Registration Motor Vehicle Record (MVR):

• Over the web, through the Motor Vehicle Record-Title and Registration request service on AZ MVD Now
• Through the post, with the Motor Vehicle Record Request form 46-4416

Shopping for a vehicle that carries an Arizona title at the moment? You are free to ask its owner to hand you an Arizona MVR before the sale is finalized.

• A vehicle that has gone without an Arizona title or registration for the last 5 years may not qualify for an MVR.

Because Arkansas falls under the federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act, it will not release details that belong to another person. To recover information covering the stretch of time when the vehicle was yours, post in a written request together with a photocopy of your driver’s license. The request has to spell out the following:

• Identifying details for the vehicle, for instance a description of it, the VIN, the license plate number, or a name paired with an address for an alpha search.
• The purpose behind asking for the information.
• The charge runs $1.00 for owner/lien holder information, plus $1.00 for every copy of a requested document such as a bill of sale, a contract, and so on.

Anyone who qualifies under D.C. Official Code §1401.01b (the D.C. Driver Privacy Protection Act (“DPPA”) (D.C. Official Code §1401.01b)), can receive an unredacted Motor Vehicle Record through the post by sending in the request, accompanied by payment and whatever documents the DPPA calls for, by mail.

Whatever is released follows the format laid down in §19-121, HAR, and must carry a legitimate Vehicle Information Number (VIN) or State of Hawaii license plate number. On top of that, the requestor has to attach an affidavit that sets out the reasons the information is wanted and gives assurances that it will serve only those reasons, that individual identities will be kept properly protected, and that nothing will be used to build a list of individuals for the purposes of commercial solicitation by mail or any other route, for the collection of delinquent accounts, or for any other purpose the rules neither allow nor provide for. There are no fees for governmental entities seeking information. Fees for individuals seeking information, including surety bond requirements depending on volume of records to be requested, are to be found in §19-121, HAR.

Idaho Motor Vehicle Records go out to individuals and businesses that can supply the vehicle identification number (VIN) along with the title number, and that are cleared to receive such information under the federal Driver Privacy Protection Act and the terms of Idaho Code §49-203.
